Registration
By registering for a class, workshop, camp, or lesson, you are agreeing to all terms of service.
Registration must be made through our website in order to attend a class, workshop, or camp. You or your child cannot attend a class, or workshop without registration. If you are unable to navigate registration on your own, please contact the desk at [email protected] or (914) 617-8541.
Age Requirements
Adult classes are intended for individuals 16 and older. Kids and teen class age requirements are individually specified on each website page. If you are looking to enroll a student outside of the intended age range, you must receive prior authorization to do so. Please contact contact the desk at [email protected] or (914) 617-8541 to receive approval.
Early Access
By joining the Early Access List, you will be notified about enrollment for the upcoming session before enrollment opens to the public. To join a class early access list, email [email protected] with your name, email address, phone number, and the class you are interested in.
Current students get priority enrollment and have the opportunity to re-sign up for their current class. Many students find that they want to continue their class beyond their initial session. If any spots become available in a class, or if a student is ready to move up to a more advanced class, we are then able to offer registration to new students, starting with those on our early access list.
If current students would like to take a break from their class and return in a later session they must notify the desk in person, via email at [email protected], or by phone at (914) 617-8541. Current students taking a break will not have a guaranteed spot when they return, however, they will gain access to enrollment before the Early Access List and General Registration.
Payments
Registration & payment are preferred through our website via our secure online registration available to you 24/7. Only credit card payments are accepted on our website. Credit card payments may also be taken over the phone. If you are paying by Venmo, Zelle, cash, check, or gift card (see gift card policies) you must contact the desk in person or at [email protected] or (914) 617-8541.
Gift Certificates
Gift certificatescan be applied toward any Railyard Arts class, workshop, camp, or lesson. Gift certificates are not redeemable for cash and cannot be used to purchase items in the shop. Gift certificates are valid for one year from the date of purchase and are non-refundable.
Refunds
A full refund will only be given if a class is canceled by Railyard Arts Studio. Students wishing to withdraw from a class must submit their request in writing no less than 4 days prior to the start of the class (email is acceptable). If a withdrawal request is received in an email 4 days or more prior to the class, a refund, less a 4% processing fee, will be issued to the purchaser’s credit card. If a registration was made via Venmo, Zelle, cash, or check, the refund will be processed in the same method it was received (no processing fee applies). Withdrawal requested between 2-3 day prior to the start of the class will receive a refund of half the enrollment fee (less the processing fee, if applicable). No refund or credit will be given if withdrawal is requested 1 day prior to the start or the day of class.
There will be no refunds after 1 year from initial date of payment. If applicable, any refunds after the 1 year expiry date may be held as a credit.
Refunds may be held as a Railyard Arts Credit. Credits may be used toward any class, workshop, lesson, or firing fee. Credits do not apply toward shop purchases.
Workshop tickets are non-refundable once purchased. If participants become unable to attend the workshop after the tickets have been purchased, they are welcome to pass their tickets on to a friend or family member who could attend in their place.
Gift certificate purchases are non-refundable and are valid 1 year from purchase date (see gift certificate policies in payments).
Closing & Cancellation
Minimum Enrollment
Every class, camp, and workshop has a minimum number of students required to run. Any class, camp, or workshop below that minimum may be subject to cancellation or postponement. Please register early to ensure your program runs! A full refund will be issued if minimum enrollment is not met (see refunds).
Closing Policies
Closings due to inclement weather or other issues will be posted on our website. Students will also be contacted via email about cancellations. Make-up classes are typically scheduled at the end of each session and communicated via email. If there are more than two classes missed due to inclement weather and make-ups cannot be scheduled, a Railyard Arts credit will be given to the students.
Makeups
Class make-ups are only scheduled if a class is canceled by the Studio due to weather, illness, or other issues (see closing & cancellation). However, we understand that emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances can arise for students throughout the session. Please notify your instructor and the front desk (email [email protected]) as soon as possible if you will be missing a class. Pottery students may request to do a make-up during open studio time once per session. You MUST receive approval to do this! Make-ups are not guaranteed. Make-ups must be done within the same session of the missed class.
Materials
Material Lists for each class are available on each class page. Materials lists are just suggestions and you are welcome to bring any supplies you already have. Turpentine is not allowed at the studio! Clay students must receive approval from their instructor to use non-studio glazes. Before purchasing supplies for a class, please confirm with the studio that your class has met its minimum enrollment (see closing & cancellation).
Privacy
Contact information for registered students will be shared with our teachers. We primarily communicate via email about class cancellations, policies, etc. We cannot guarantee you will receive all information if you do not provide a valid email address. You will receive promotional material ONLY if you sign up for our email newsletter. Contact information is not shared with any personnel other than studio staff and our IT team.
Student Behavior
Railyard Arts Studio reserves the right to dismiss any student for any inappropriate behavior. We are a community studio and expect every student to respect one another, the staff, and the studio space.
Liability Waiver
It is assumed upon registration that you agree to the following: Railyard Arts Studio is not responsible for the safekeeping of my personal belongings while I attend class. I understand that classes may be physically strenuous, and I voluntarily participate in them with full knowledge that there is risk of personal injury, property loss, or death. I agree that neither I, my heirs, assigns or legal representatives will sue or make any other claims of any kind whatsoever against Railyard Arts Studio or its members for any personal injury, property damage/loss, or wrongful death, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.
