A hands-on exploration of pattern, color, and creativity.
Take your pottery to the next level in this engaging and technique-driven course focused entirely on surface design. You’ll learn how to enhance your clay work with layered imagery, bold patterns, and creative textures using methods such as custom image transfers, hand-cut stencils, silkscreen printing, paper resist, and a variety of masking and glazing techniques.
Throughout the course, we’ll work with underglazes, Stroke & Coat, slips, and glazes, experimenting with how these materials can be combined to create vibrant, expressive surfaces. Whether you're drawn to crisp, graphic lines or prefer a more painterly, layered look, this class will give you the skills to develop your own surface language on clay.
Open to all levels, this class is your springboard to experimentation—walk away with a library of surface techniques and a head full of fresh ideas ready to fire.
Open Studio & firing fees are not included in class tuition.
You will need your own set of tools for this class. Please refer to the suggested materials list below.
