Registration FAQs
How do I register for a class?
All students must be registered for class through our website! Once general enrollment opens, classes will be available for purchase under the classes tab of our main menu (located at the top). Prior to general registration, current students & those on the early access list will receive an email with a sign up link. You may also register in person or call us at (914) 617-8541 to register.
What’s the best way to get into a full class?
The easiest way to get into a class is by registering through our early access list. Spots will fill very quickly once early access registration begins. We reccomend that you keep an eye out for the early acces email, have payment ready, and register as soon as you receive the email. We will send out a reminder a day or two before sending out the early access link!
How do I get on the early access list?
Join the early access list by competing the form located above this FAQ! Please leave your name, email address, phone number, session you would like to register for, and the specific day & time of the class you are interested in! Phone: (914) 617-8541
Email: [email protected]
How far down am I on the early access list?
There is no specific order on the early access list! Everyone on the list will have EQUAL opportunitity to register. Registration is first come, first served. Everyone on the list will be emailed a registration link at the same time.
Do I automatically get put on the next session early access list if I do not get into my preferred class?
No, if we do not hear from you after we send out the early access email, we will not automatically put you on the next list.
Can I reserve my spot in a future session by paying early?
No, our registration system is designed to allow current students the opportunity to continue the class they are currently in. Because of this, we cannot accept registrations until AFTER current students have registered.
How much are classes?
Class prices vary depending upon the medium, age of student, and duration of the class. View our Spring 2 price list here.
Do I have to pay with a credit card?
To pay through the website, you must use a debit or credit card. Please contact us if you would like to pay via Venmo, Zelle, cash, check, or gift card. You MUST communicate with us prior to sending non-credit/debit card payments!
Phone: (914) 617-8541

How long are classes?
Fall, Winter, & Spring classes typically run for 6-8 consecutive weeks! Summer art classes run for 4 (art) or 8 (clay) weeks!
Hours per week:
Kids & Teen Art Classes: 1 hour/week
Teen Clay Classes: 1.5 hours/week
Crochet & Knitting Classes: 1.5 hours/week
Adult Art Classes: 2 hours/week
Adult Clay Classes: 2-3 hours/week + 2 hours of open studio/week
What materials do I need?
Materials are included for kids & teen classes!
Adults must bring their own supplies and tools to class (with the exception of clay). We do not require specific materials and encourage you to bring materials you already own. If you are unsure what to bring, check out our suggested materials lists curated by our instructors here.
If I need to withdraw, can I get a refund?
A full refund will only be given if a class is canceled by Railyard Arts Studio. Students wishing to withdraw from a class must submit their request in writing no less than 4 days prior to the start of the class (email is acceptable). If a withdrawal request is received in an email 4 days or more prior to the class, a refund, less a 5% processing fee, will be issued to the purchaser’s credit card. If a registration was made via Venmo, Zelle, cash, or check, the refund will be processed in the same method it was received (no processing fee applies). Withdrawal requested between 2-3 day prior to the start of the class will receive a refund of half the enrollment fee. No refund or credit will be given if withdrawal is requested 1 day prior to the start or the day of class.
There will be no refunds after 1 year from initial date of payment. If applicable, any refunds after the 1 year expiry date may be held as a credit.
Refunds may be held as a Railyard Arts Credit. Credits may be used toward any class, workshop, lesson, or firing fee. Credits do not apply toward shop purchases.
Can I sign up for part of the session at a discounted rate?
No, we are not able to offer prorates at this time as it inhibits our abilities to appropriately compensate our instructors.
If I am missing a class, can I do a make up?
Class make-ups are only scheduled if a class is canceled by the Studio due to weather, illness, or other issues (see closing & cancellation). However, we understand that emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances can arise for students throughout the session. Please notify your instructor and the front desk (email [email protected]) as soon as possible if you will be missing a class. Adult Art & pottery students may request to do a make-up during open studio time once per session. You MUST receive approval to do this! Make-ups are not guaranteed. Make-ups must be done within the same session of the missed class.
Can I transfer classes mid-session?
No, unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate class transfers after the session has already begun. This is because our instructor’s payment rate is based on the amount of students in their class. Instructors are guaranteed their rate on the first day of the session so we are unable to offer credits, transfers, or refunds after this.
You may request to be transferred in the next session! If we have the availability, we will transfer current students prior to enrolling new students!
