- New Students!
- Included with your class registration, we offer one 2-hour Open Studio session each week of class.
- Please wait until you have had your first class before attending an Open Studio session.
- Scheduled Open Studio times are offered: Saturday & Sunday 10am-12pm and Monday & Tuesday 9:30am-11:30am. See below for Open Studio dates for this session!
- All: please only sign up for one day.
- Handbuilders sign up for handbuilding slots and Wheel Throwers sign up for wheel spots.
- Outside Glazes: in general, we suggest for students to use our in-house glazes, as these are monitored for consistency in firing on a regular basis. However, we understand many students have purchased other glaze options for personal use either for a workshop, class project or other. If you have purchased outside glazes, please let us know as we are creating a list of approved glazes to use. Please email us and we will send you the glaze approval form to fill out and we will confirm which of your glazes are safe for use. Please note that if you choose to use an outside glaze, you are responsible for any problems or damage that may arise during firing. The fine for damaged glaze shelves is $50. Thank you!
- Firing Fees: All pottery made by Railyard Arts students needs to be measured and recorded in the Firing Fees book at GREENWARE. In order to fire any of your pieces in the bisque kiln, you need to measure, record in FF book, and fill out a ticket with class info, price and piece #. Your instructor will also go over how to correctly measure & record your pieces and answer any firing fees questions.
- Firing fees include cost of clay, space in the kilns, staff to load/unload kilns and manage Studio clay recycling & glaze material, so anything made in class or Open Studio must be paid for, even if you decide to fire at a different location.
- Makeup Policy: If you miss a class, Open Studio time can be used in place of your missed class, ONE TIME per session. Missed Open Studio sessions may not be made up.
- Please see below for more information regarding our makeup policy, including how to schedule a makeup.
