Mindful Drawing: Seeing More Clearly

“Life’s about the journey not the destination.” Let yourself be guided through a series of mindful drawing exercises, where you’ll strengthen your ability to be present for life’s journey. Appropriate for both new and experienced artists (and meditators), this 90-minute class will start with the Zen practice of Enso, a traditional meditation technique using ink, brush and paper. After experiencing this tranquil and centering art form, participants will be invited to play with several meditative drawing techniques that invite clearer seeing of what is really in front of us – not just what our mind assumes is there. As Monet said, “To see, we must forget the name of the thing we are looking at.” The class will close with a time-lapse drawing, inviting participants to tune into each moment as fresh and distinct – both in art and in life. Throughout the workshop, there will be plenty of time for conversation and community. Participants can expect to leave this workshop relaxed and revived.

About The Instructor
Katy Romita is the founder of One Small Stone, a meditation center dedicated to helping people find more peace in their own lives and in the world. Katy’s work with One Small Stone was featured in the April 2022 edition of Good Housekeeping. Katy is a certified Meditation Instructor, an Energy and Sound Healing Facilitator, and an Usui Reiki II Practitioner. She holds a BA from Dartmouth College (where she loved, loved, loved her studio art courses!), as well as an MPA from New York University.
