There are many approaches to creating a drawing or painting. The fundamentals or “elements” of art are a collection of foundational groundwork to take from in order to create the right approach for you. Various approaches and techniques will be covered in this all-levels class and each student will be individually instructed. This is the perfect class for anyone who wants to learn the fundamentals of painting or drawing to the more experienced artist who needs guidance and the expertise of the teacher. Ages 16+

- Oil Paint (I prefer Winton or Windsor & Newton, Artist Grade: Worth it, Student or Academic Grade: Cheaper) We are an oil paint friendly but with a carry-in, carry-out policy. No solvents please, also plan to wash your brushes at home and carry out any rags or paper towels.

- Stretched Canvas– A few different sizes between 9×12, 11×14, 12×16, all sizes acceptable. Canvas Panels are acceptable (but they tend to warp)
- Palette (Mixing Surface)
- Wax Paper or a Disposable Paper Palette 12×16 / 11×15 or larger
- Optional Supplies
- Palette Knives
- Masking Tape
- Dawn Dish Soap & Lava Soap
- Acrylic Paints: Small Spray Water Bottle
- Acrylic Paints: Matte Medium, Slo-Dri Retarder
- Oil Paint or Water Based Oils*
- Oil Paints: Gamsol and Linseed Oil
- 3 Small Glass Jar with Lids (transport in air-tight glass jar/container)
- Liquin
- Saran Wrap to bring brushes and back forth
